I live in the small community of Corvallis Oregon. There are a lot of illegal immigrants around this part of the country. I have noticed that they are taking jobs not only in manufacturing but a lot of the fast food chains around here are hiring them. I’ve been noticing a lot of Mexicans moving pipe south of Corvallis, These jobs used to be filled by high school and college students trying to earn a little money to help pay for their education. Now the jobs are lost to them for ever. Why is no one enforcing the laws that are on the books now to prevent this from happening?

Every person crossing the border illegally needs to be arrested, sent to jail for 1 year, and given two options serve 2yrs in Iraq or be taken back to original country. After serving they still don’t get any veteran benefits, unless they stay in for twenty plus years.

Followup Submittal. Would be proud to be listed as a supporter of Veterans for Secure Borders! I sup-pose our elected leaders should build upon previous successes in im-migration reform. However, cooking up a massive bill such as SB 1348 behind closed doors and ramming it through the legislative approval process without a full debate by all affected parties is not the proper way. Such elitist leadership is treasonous and overlooks the funda-mental guidelines of Constitution, ignores the will of US citizens, and betrays the trust granted to the leaders by these citizens. We need to secure our borders, identify and document those who are here illegally and then deport them. They should be convicted and put into our prison system if they return illegally and are captured again. The American people have demanded that the border with Mexico be secured, why is it not secured?
The American people have demanded that our immigration laws be enforced, why are they not being enforced?
The American people have demanded sanctions against employers that hire illegal aliens, why are employers still hiring illegal aliens?
The answer is because the federal government is no longer deriving their power from the consent of the governed but from big money campaign contributors and this state of affairs is unacceptable for a free people, therefore, it is time for us who took an oath to support and defend The Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, to take bake our government from these cowardly politicians, who are willing to give it away for a few campaign dollars more.

I have lived as a foriegner for apporximately 9 years. I have been in countries where if you were ever taken into custody by their authorities, their governments did not have to notify our state department...ever. I do not think the ILLEGAL ALIENS of any shape, size, color, religon, or country who disrespect our soveriegnty and laws deserve one red cent of our benefits. The only thing I would GIVE them is a free pass back to where they came from. If they want to come here to live and become citizens, THEY CAN GET IN LINE WITH THE REST OF THEM.

Our Government Officials have placed our country in a very serious situation, by not securing our borders. Our young workers cannot get work, its depleting our medical institutions, and causing our schools to spend billions to teach illegials children, and leaving ours behind. The crap about americans not want to do the work is wrong, Bricklayers who last year built homes in our community was americans, this year they are illegials and I am quite sure those American bricklayers would love to continue to work. They said so but could not compete against the cheap 3rd country labor.
